Stone Brewing 8th Anniversary Celebration
Exceeds Fundraising Expectations

San Marcos, CA - A brewery famous for its gargoyle logo and beers such as Stone Pale Ale and Arrogant Bastard Ale is quickly becoming known for its philanthropy too. Stone Brewing recently celebrated their 8th Anniversary, an annual event that just keeps getting bigger and bigger. That means the checks for local and national charities keep getting bigger and bigger too. This year the annual event benefited the Surfrider Foundation, the Boys & Girls Club of San Marcos, and the Palomar Family YMCA of Escondido.

"We were truly moved by the tremendous turnout and enthusiasm for the Stone 8th Anniversary Celebration & Invitational Beer Festival," said Stone CEO Greg Koch. "We are excited to report that the money we raised for the Boys & Girls Club of San Marcos, the Palomar Family YMCA, and the Surfrider Foundation was more than $39,000."

These funds are critical to their annual budgets and certainly appreciated. "The Boys & Girls Club of San Marcos appreciates the support of local businesses, like Stone, to further provide programs and services to our community's youth. Thank you Stone Brewing!" said Shelly Anguiano, CEO of the Boys & Girls Club of San Marcos.

This year also marked a return to another of Stone's charitable creations: Stone Brewing's "Make Your 'Do Blue Week." Participants in this biennial fundraiser gather pledges --- much like a walk-a-thon --- to dye their hair a specific color for one week. The color this year was blue, in the past it has been green and red.

"We give people an opportunity to help put both themselves and the world in a little better balance by adding more color and raising money for some very worthy charities," said Koch. And raise money they did.

With the help of their "dye-hard fans" that included local business people, entrepreneurs, restaurateurs, and even Escondido City Council member Ed Gallo, over $31,000 was raised for Children's Hospital, American Cancer Society, and Locks Of Love.

This put Stone Brewing's fundraising efforts, for this year alone, at over $70,000! Not too bad for a bunch of guys and gals who love beer and just want to try and make the world a little bit better place!
