Awarded Highest "Presidents Award" by American Society of Landscape Architects

The San Diego Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA) chose the Stone Brewing World Bistro & Gardens for their highest honor at their 2009 Design Awards program. Held on December 3, 2009, the Society's Presidents Award was given to Schmidt Design Group, Inc. in collaboration with Stone Brewing Co. CEO & Co-Founder Greg Koch.

A prestigious jury of 7 landscape architects, urban planners, and members of the media selected the Stone Brewing World Bistro & Gardens from a pool of 54 projects for the President's Award.

The theme for the biennial program was "Sustaining Excellence,” and the 7-member jury lauded the Gardens for their combination of human and environmental sustainability.

"The Gardens, which were completed in 2006, are a 1-acre park-like environment for dining, relaxing, exploration, and special events."
|

The construction of the Gardens included many locally salvaged materials and are 100% organically maintained. Brewery bi-products, such as spent grain and used oak chips, are used as compost and mulch.
