WHAT: Mass Hair Dyeing For Charity – Great Sunday Feature!

Escondido, CA – For the fourth time in the brewery’s colorful 10 year history, the creative people at Stone Brewing will once again be promoting multi-hued hairdos combined with charitable fundraising during Stone Brewing's “Do Your 'Do Red, Green or Blue” Week. In case you've missed the crazy-colored craniums in the past, here's how it works:  “Do Your 'Do Red, Green or Blue” participants collect pledges/donations (much like a walk-a-thon) to dye their hair red, green or blue for a week. Sponsors make the charitable donations for the pleasure of seeing their friends, co-workers and relatives in all their brilliant blue, ravishing red, or glorious green.

In years past, the colors have been either green, blue or red and dozens of members of the community — including the Mayor of San Marcos, the CEO of the Boys & Girls Club of San Marcos, Escondido City Council members, attorneys and CPA’s, Stone CEO Greg Koch and Stone President and Brewmaster Steve Wagner — have dyed their hair and raised over $60,000 for charity!

This year to commemorate Stone’s “Ten Years & Brewing Strong” the three colors have been combined so participants can “do” any combination of the three colors. Any non-natural shade of the three colors will do: Crimson, Scarlet, Ruby, Emerald, Lime, Jade, Azure, Indigo, Cobalt, Pacific, or Sapphire shades will be just fine.

“It has come to my attention that there are a large number of people out there that have never dyed their hair an unnatural color, which is of course a tragedy,” said Stone CEO Greg Koch. “We’re giving people an opportunity to help put both themselves and the world in a little better balance by adding more color and raising money for some very worthy charities.”

Rady Children’s Hospital of San Diego, Palomar Family YMCA, Boys & Girls Club of San Marcos, and Looks Like Me are the charities benefiting from this year's unusual event.

On Sunday, August 27th numerous community leaders, businessmen and women and of course the individuals from Stone will be having a mass hair-dyeing event at The Loft Hair Design in downtown Escondido. On hand will be Stone CEO, Greg Koch; Palomar Family YMCA Executive Director, Alfredo Velasco; Masson & Associates President, John Masson; and many, many other friendly, civic leaders, and fundraising folks.

Participants must “Do Their 'Do Red, Green or Blue” on or before September 2nd, 2006, with the fundraising finale coinciding with the Stone Brewing 10th Anniversary Celebration & Invitational Beer Festival on September 9th.

The Stone 10th Anniversary Celebration & Invitational Beer Festival is open to the public and offers an opportunity to sample their award-winning ales in a festive environment. Last year’s anniversary event was attended by over 4000 beer lovers. This year, the crowd promises to be colorful group of approximately 5000 multihued, craft beer loving philanthropists!
