Stone Brewing Dyes for Charity

San Marcos, California --Stone Brewing Co. promotes colorful coiffures and three charities during Stone Brewing's Going Green Week.

To "Go Green," participants must dye their hair green. Sponsors pledge cash for the pleasure of seeing the participant with green hair. After soliciting pledges over the next several weeks, the participant dyes their hair and collects the pledges, with the top pledge getter winning the coveted 'Green Grail of Ale' — A 3-liter bottle of Stone 5th Anniversary IPA, with Stone IPA refill privileges for a year.

"We like the color green," said Greg Koch, Stone's CEO, "Green is the color of the hops we use in our Stone 5th Anniversary IPA, the color of money going to charity, and the color of the label on our Stone 5th Anniversary IPA." The special anniversary version is an extra strong and bitter limited edition release of Stone IPA (India Pale Ale). Stone IPA has an enthusiastic and distinguished following and a gold medal from the 2001 World Beer Championships.

Children's Hospital, The American Cancer Society and Boys and Girls Clubs of San Marcos are the charities benefiting from Stone's unusual event. Participants must "Go Green" on or before September 15th with the fund raising finale coinciding with the Stone Brewing 5th Anniversary Open House, on September 22nd, 2001.
The Stone 5th Anniversary Open House is open to the public and offers an opportunity to sample their award-winning ales in a festive environment. Last year's anniversary event was attended by over 3000 beer lovers. This year, those participating in the fund-raiser will go to the front of the line for samples. That may turn the other attendees…well…green with envy.
